Music at Work

Singing and listing to music, doing a short dance and sharing it with others is one of my new favorite hobbies-at work.

It’s simple and brief, but often resets my energy to 100%.

Health professionals believe song and dance are powerful tools to assist while working.

According to Harvard Medical School, a 2012 study on the popular Latin dance ‘Zumba‘ discovered that it reduces stress, improves moods and increases serotonin levels, among many other advanced cognitive abilities.

We could also infer that other positive types of dance or music would certainly benefit us in similar ways.

Some of us have a boss or strict rules at work, limiting our ability to express ourselves-we are not allowed to sing or dance.

Nonetheless, experience has taught me that there’s often a workaround.

For example, hum a tune or bust a move outside, in your car or in the washroom while you’re on a break.

30 seconds is all it takes.

Trust me: you’ll forget you were even tired or stressed-it’s like going on a mini vacation.

Try it. It works!

Life is short.
Most of our time is spent sleeping, eating and working.
If the jobs are getting tough, change it up-into something better.

If you have other ways to bring joy to the workplace, don’t hesitate to tell others.

In addition, everyone is welcome to post your ideas in the comments and Wisdom Connections may publish them online.

Here’s a lively clip from Shen Yun, presenting traditional Chinese dancing with a live orchestra.
