Out With The Old ~ In With The New

Recently, my wife and I rolled up our sleeves and began re-organizing our home.

Starting this process was the biggest challenge as we had no idea where to begin.

It required a major emotional detachment because there were many things we wanted to hold on to, though deep down we knew would never use.

There was a substantial amount of material possessions we collected, but rarely used over the last 10+ years, that could be serving others on daily basis.

This simple fact, learned from a little online research and coaching, supported us in gaining the wisdom and courage to let go of many thins we “thought” to be important to hold on to.

We were ready to start living in a home environment that would boost our life purpose and self-respect.

My wife and I took the long-term, approach to re-organizing our home.

We needed to clear out entire rooms of all materials and re-build the spaces to our liking.

We knew it would be a huge challenge as our home held about 50% more things than it could contain.

My wife’s office was our first target.

After much humming and hawing, we cleared out her office and took a deep breath.

Several amazing things happened at this point.

We filled dozens of boxes with items to donate, recycle, trash and put into long-term storage.

There were even items belonging to my wife and I that could be stored elsewhere in our home.

The jammed-packed, unused room that we were renting was now ready for use and the hording habits were disappearing.

My wife even offered that I use it for my home office, which I really needed! I gladly accepted.

Perhaps the most interesting fact of clearing out this room is that we kept similing, saying how relieved we felt.

We got our power back and this new team effort strengthened our marriage.

We got inspired to do more organizing together, went on a shopping spree to rebuild a great home interior for our lives and even make our home suitable for inviting guests for gatherings.

Home & The Heart

Home is where the heart is
So put your heart into it

Dust, dirt and distracting objects fill your space
Let them go with an open heart
Free your physical space of the clutter
Free your mental space of the burden
